Josée Robert is a painter, veteran, and community leader whose work bridges art and service in powerful harmony. A lifelong lover of painting, she shares her passion with serving members and veterans alike, believing that creativity can reconnect us to purpose and one another. Through her art, Josée strives to breathe new life into military-inspired creativity — ensuring it reflects the realities, resilience, and humanity of the Canadian Armed Forces as they exist today.
After serving over a decade in uniform, Josée was medically released from the military — a transition she had fought for years to avoid. The end of her service brought an unexpected loss of identity and direction. As she navigated her own path back to wellness, she recognized that many transition services failed to address the unique experiences and needs of women in the Forces. That realization reignited her drive to serve — this time through art and advocacy.
Out of this purpose, The Art of Service was born. A national art initiative and fundraising gala, it unites artists from across Canada under one question: “How are you inspired by our military?” The event celebrates the diverse ways Canadians view and connect with those who serve, creating a living dialogue between art, empathy, and remembrance.
All proceeds from The Art of Service are donated to Soldier On, an organization dedicated to helping serving members and veterans recover, adapt, and thrive through physical activity and community engagement. By blending creativity with compassion, Josée continues her mission to serve — painting a path forward for those finding their way after service, and redefining what it means to wear the uniform beyond the battlefield.
